Vision and Mission
AT LAST!
An Indonesian church designed for those who want to “soar like an eagle” for people around you, people around the world and for God. Let’s face it. Many Indonesians are not active in church these days.

WHY?
Too often
· The sermons on Sunday services do not relate to daily living. We go to church and go back home not remembering a thing about the sermons.
· There is no difference between going to a church than going to a cinema. We come to the meeting place not knowing anybody and going home not knowing anybody. The cultural differences create the gaps in finding real friendship in traditional American churches.
· It is hard “to be all that you can be,” because there are too many rules in a church, whether it’s about membership, church organization or because it seems like your gifts and talents are not needed in the church.

WE’VE GOT GOOD NEWS FOR YOU!
LIGHTHOUSE INDONESIAN CHURCH is a new church designed to meet your needs emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually so that each one of you can “soar like an eagle” for people around you, people around the world and for God. We’re a group of friendly, happy people who have discovered the joy of the Christian lifestyle. We have found:
· God’s purpose to live for
· God’s people to live with
· God’s principles to live by
· God’s profession to live out and
· God’s power to live on.

AT LIGHTHOUSE INDONESIAN CHURCH You:
· Meet new friends and get to know the Indonesians in DFW
· Enjoy upbeat music with a contemporary flavor with drums, guitars, saxophone, piano, angklung,
· Hear positive, practical messages which encourage you and lead you “to be all that you can be.”
· Trust your children in Children ministry, a ministry dedicated to excellence in educating the second generation children in Christ.

IT IS OUR DREAM …
· It is our dream to welcome hundreds of Indonesians into the fellowship of our church family – loving accepting, helping, forgiving, guiding and encouraging.
· It is our dream to develop people to spiritual maturity through Bible studies, small groups, seminars, and retreats.
· It is our dream to equip every believer for a significant ministry by helping them discover the gifts and talents God gave them and let them “soar like an eagle” for the Lord!
· It is our dream to equip every believer to have a life mission for God, whether locally in DFW or globally in world.
· It is our dream to always magnify the Lord and offer everything that we do for the glory of God.

Lighthouse Church Model
The model of LIGHTHOUSE INDONESIAN CHURCH is based on Purpose Driven Church model and summarized beautifully in the church logo.
First and foremost, Jesus Christ is the LIGHT. The church, the fellowship of believers, is the Lighthouse. A Lighthouse means nothing without the Light. It looses its function not partly, but completely. This should remind us that no matter how magnificent the Church is, it means nothing without the Light, Jesus Christ Himself.
Now, when a Lighthouse shines its Light, it gives Light to everybody. That’s the nature of Light. It will not just give Light to a selected group of people or a particular denomination of a church. This should remind us, that the Church is about sharing the Light, Jesus Christ, to the world. It is about giving a direction and purpose in people’s lives. It is about putting the differences aside (whether it’s race, denominational, social status, etc. ) and to turn our eyes upon Jesus, the Light. When we turn our eyes upon Jesus, then suddenly all of these differences will look strangely dim. Now, how can we do this?

5 Circles of Commitment
The goal of the LIGHTHOUSE INDONESIAN CHURCH is to move people from the outer circle (low commitment) to the inner circle (high commitment). This is called “moving people from the community into the core.”
The community is the starting point. This is the “unchurched or the occasional attenders.” The crowd is the “regular attenders.” This is the group that are committed to attending a worship service every week. The next inner circle is the “congregation.” Now, this is the group of people that has received Christ and has been committed to the purpose of fellowship. The Christian life is not just a matter of believing Christ; it includes belonging. Once people have made a commitment to Christ, they need to be encouraged to take the next step to care for the family of believers. The next inner circle is the “committed.” Now, this is the group who are serious about their faith. They pray, give and are dedicated to growing in discipleship. The “core” is the smallest group, because it represents the deepest level of commitment. They are the dedicated minority of workers and leaders, those who are committed to ministering to others. They are people that lead and serve in various ministries of the Church. The core workers form the heart of the church.

LIFE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
The goal of the LIGHTHOUSE INDONESIAN CHURCH is to move people to become “Grand Slam Disciples.” We use the simple diagram of a baseball diamond to visually show the process to a deeper level of commitment.
First Base Membership Covenant
  To lead people to Christ
Second Base Maturity Covenant
To grow people to spiritual maturity
Third Base Ministry Covenant
To equip people with the skills they need for ministry
Home Base Missions Covenant
To enlist people in the worldwide mission of sharing Christ.

History
In early 1992, God placed a burden on the hearts of a few Christian couples to share God’s love to the Indonesian families in the metroplex. At that time, the metroplex had some places for Indonesian Christian students and single young professionals, but many felt that there were not any special places for Indonesian families to be reached out and to grow in Christ in the midst of their busy work and family life. With prayer and faith, an Indonesian Christian Fellowship was launched in August 1992 to mainly reach out the Indonesian families in Fort Worth. This fellowship was held in one of the member’s house in Fort Worth. The fellowship was simply called “ICF Fort Worth”. Potluck dinner, prayer, worship and teaching were the primary agenda of each gathering. The Lord provided teachers from DTS, SWBTS and other leaders from the local churches.
This fellowship keeps growing from a fellowship of less than 10 people to a fellowship of 20 adults and 10 children. In 1994, ICF Fort Worth meeting place had to be moved to the Arlington Chinese Church (ACC) because we can not accommodate the fellowship in a house anymore. We were glad to see how God worked in this fellowship and we always praise God for the generosity that the ACC had given us throughout the years.
We continued praying for a fruitful fellowship and ministry. In 1997, we felt such a burden to extend our wings so that we can reach out the unreached families in the metroplex beyond the Fort Worth area. But to do this, we need some additional servants in the Lord. God answered our prayers. During this year, God brought some additional godly Christians to serve in the fellowship. The fellowship kept growing especially in their relationship with God. The members had changed life and the motivation to be in a fellowship was not for a social gathering anymore, but truly to worship and to grow in Christ.
In 1999, we were given another burden to again extend our wings so that the fellowship can reach out not only the Indonesian families, but also Indonesian people of ALL AGES in the metroplex area. We prayed for God to lead the way. Surely, He brought some additional godly Christians to serve in the fellowship. With these extra workers, we started six ministry areas to better meet our new vision and mission. With prayer and faith, we want to serve the senior generations, the families, the newly and nearly wed couples, the young professionals, the single adults, the college students, youth and the children. We know that if we obey God, our plans will be successful and the Holy Spirit will be unleashed upon us.
In 2001, God leads us to move to a new chapter, that is to move the fellowship to a purpose driven church in order that we may be more effective in reaching the Indonesian community in DFW and beyond. This has been a long three years process … and finally, here we are, as a church, as a family of God, on our knees, prayerfully and faithfully committing our lives to be the lighthouse for the Indonesian community in DFW and the world.
Each of the servants in the Lighthouse Indonesian Church just want to be used to please God and be found loyal through the end. We simply want to hear Him say, “Well done, my good servant” and able to say “I have finished the race” at the end of our lives. “To God be the glory.”
