April NEWS LETTER
LEARNING THE ABC’S THAI STYLE During your first term of service as a missionary you have one primary objective: Learn the Language! Well, during our first couple of months Ruth and I were learning conversational Thai, but now we have to shift our focus on reading and writing. Oh, yes we are learning our ABC’s Thai style. Our Language School uses Module 3 to 5 to teach reading and writing. This month I have been in Module 4, while Ruth takes a break.
Next month, we will both begin studying Module 5, which is comprehension. It was so exciting for my teacher to hand me a book to read out loud, and when I was finished, she looked at me with a smile and said, I’m so proud of you John, you read like a competent 2nd Grader! Praise the Lord for Progress!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS MONTH SO SPECIAL This month is the time of year when we thank our Lord for blessing us with our daughter, Hannah Faith. She turned two years old, and she is just a bundle of joy! More importantly, we are so grateful for family friends like: Ms. Aileen, Grandpa Voyd, Ms. Evans, Ms. D. Felder, Min, Omeni, and Carey and Lisa for all of your very gracious gifts and words of encouragement as we celebrate this time.
Please pray that Ruth and the choir members will work and relate well. Also, Ruth has been given the opportunity to start a Nursery for the church as well. Please pray for her to have the wisdom and strength to gather the people and resources for such a task.
We will have Hannah’s birthday party with over 30 of our American and Thai friends the last Saturday of April. It feels so good to be loved by people from home in the States, as well as at home here in Bangkok.
Also, we would like to thank Rod and Rhonda Ristow, friends at FBC Sommerville, Tennessee, and Supriya Joshi and the International Believer’s Fellowship Children’s Class for lifting us up in prayer and holding us dear to your hearts. Thank you all for making this month so special!
In His service, John, Ruth & Hannah
